I have my insurance with Abbey national as recommended by my mother. I changed from Halifax who have been fantastic and decided that I could save 10.00 pounds a month by moving to Abbey who offered the same services. For three years I fortunately never needed to make any claims however this year when we had stormy weather the rain leaked into my study. The claims processed seemed simple enough and I telephoned Abbey National to provide them with the relevant details within 24 hours. To cut a long story short the claim was made at the beginning of November and it has taken them till now to advise that they will not pursue with my claim as it is due to wear and tear. In the time it has taken them to establish this (which by the way I am disputing) I have been contact by more than 10 different people all of which have not known what stage of the claim we were at - I have been visited by two different surveyors one who managed to assess the problem that was on the second level of my house from the bottom level in the pouring rain and the second who assessed a completely different problem !!!! I wrote a long letter of complaint to Asprea who did not even have the courtesy to reply until i threatened to advise the FSA. On telephoning Abbey National themselves the customer service advisor then refused to give me the complaints procedure !! Is this not against the FSA policy ? I would advise anyone thinking of moving to Abbey National home insurance to think again ! They are the worst company I have had the pleasure of dealing with.
