General Comments

NOTE: if you think your "switch" has failed, it is probably the batteries. I had the exact same experience as many here, with the Mini Maglite only staying on for a few seconds, a quick flicker and dead, would come back on for a second or two if I twisted the switch, etc

Before tossing in the garbage, I tried a new set of batteries. It worked perfectly and the "broken" switch was magically fixed.

What is happening is counter-intuitive to those of us who've used incandescent flashlights for a few decades. With LEDs, batteries do *not* fade to yellow and slowly die a predictable death. The light output drops, but the color stays exactly the same.

Without paying close attention, most (including me) probably would not notice the output reduction. And then, when the batteries can no longer supply sufficient current to power the LED, light output ceases suddenly. If you turn it off for a few seconds or minutes and then back on, the batteries surge for a few seconds, supplying enough power to light the LED (which, as I noted, looks to be at full power because the color stays the same). After a few seconds, it dies again. And you think the switch has failed.

Anyway, if you think your switch is bad, try a new set of batteries first.

I put in a new set of batteries and it fixed the problem of flickering and going off after a few seconds,,,Upon examining the old batteries,I noticed the Positive and negative ends were kinda caved in,and prolly not making a good connection,,,Battery damage is prolly from dropping every now and then,or from ruff use,,,,New batteries fixed it for me,,,,,,,
