General Comments

Last month I purchased a lamp with 8 tulip-like glass shades. We reserved on line and went to our local store to collect - Forty minutes later three youths working behind the counter still appeared to be chattering and meandering around and our lamp had not arrived - I thought that was pretty shoddy!

When we finally got home my partner managed to accidentally break one of the lovely glass shades whilst decorating. I contacted Argos via their address they give for customer services enquiries on the internet and sent an e-mail explaining we had broken a shade and could Argos please advise whether we could purchase a replacement shade from them or provide a supplier contact. What I got back was 'sorry we are unable to help as you purchased this from a store please take it back with your receipt'. It seemed the person at the other end representing Argos had not read my detailed enquiry properly and pasted back an 'automated reply'. Where else would I purchase an item apart from an Argos store? That point made no sense to me whatsoever. They had not checked the item code I gave them - all they had to say was 'yes - here is our supplier of the lamp - please contact them' or 'no sorry we cant help in replacing your broken shade'. I have now asked for details to make a formal complaint and stated if Argos think I am going back for another 40 minutes of queuing only to ask for a replacement shade they can think on - I felt that nobody seemed to care once I purchased the item - its a real shame.
