Good Points

It's a MasterCard. This means you can use the card to buy products and services on the internet and at some stores.


Bad Points

Chequepoint are are real cowboy organisation. They take money from your account without your knowledge/permission. There is no chip, so some shops won't take the card, but you can apparently apply for a card with your name and a chip. Also, their web site (for managing the card) is very insecure (not https).


General Comments

Chequepoint made a lot of unclear charges to my account which equate to nearly 5 pounds per transaction. These charges were in addition to the ones they told me about when purchasing the card in the first place.
I applied for a PIN on the card which took 2 weeks to arrive. Topping up the card via bank transfer sometimes took weeks to do. At no time did Chequepoint achieve any of their stated promises for service deadline.
Out of ten I would give Chequepoint a 1. The card does work some of the time, but you can't rely on it. Other than that the service is abysmal and bordering on criminal with the hidden charges.
