Good Points

The jazz music mix (no whales or pan flutes!)

Bad Points

Tired spa and reception area were my first impressions; treatment room with absolutely no charm or luxury feel whatsoever; minimally skilled therapist; less than average treatment and HUGE cost (over £200).

General Comments

I arrived 5 minutes early, to be told to go downstairs and meet another member of staff who would greet me in the spa. Noone was there. I figured out the lockers and got changed and waited. Then someone arrived and showed me to a "lounge" room which had a plate of half nibbled cheese pieces on a plate and some tired looking fruit. I was invited to help myself - didn't look at all appetising. Eventually (15 minutes late) my therapist arrived. I was shown to a small room with absolutely no charm or luxury features - just some machinery in a corner and a bright light overhead. When asked about skin conditions I explained I had some basal call carcinomas removed and immediately the therapist started to lecture me. I was astonished. I don;t need to be lectured by a young beauty therapist about dermatology and sunbed care when she knows nothing about my history and my preventive program.

Nevertheless, she carried out the Steep Clean treatment which was...just ok, no more. I was informed that an "oxygen cream" was being used to "soften my pores" because "we believe that steam is an outdated technology". I thought that was rather stupid but said nothing. The pore extraction was fine. The therapist massaged my hands and feet but theres were perfunctory, not very pleasant and short when they could have been a true highlight of the treatment. She left the room twice for long periods of time, the second time "to write out a prescription" for me when I had asked for none. The treatment really had nothing pampering or high quality about it (I was used to Eve Lom facials by Eve Lom herself and at the Dorchester, a very very good spa by comparison to Bliss). Twice the therapist tried to sel me products.

All this cost me over £200 which is £80 more than a 1.5hour Eve Lom facial by a first class therapist in the luxurious settings of a Dorchester spa room. Never again for me, sorry
