Good Points

The many different window fitters who have come to our house are actually very polite, however we would've been happier with just one fitter who actually knew what he was doing.

Bad Points

Salesman misinformed us.
Very poor customer service.
Very poor quality products.
Guarantee poor.

General Comments

We had our Safestyle windows and door installed in the autumn 2000. The door was not what we'd been led to believe that we were buying, but as the workmen refused to leave our premises without a signature and we had a doctor's appointment to go to, we were forced to sign off on it and have lived with sub-standard doors ever since. Doors is in plural as the original one had to be replaced as it wasn't resistant to the English weather and the replacement door has subsequently had repairs done to it as well.

As regards the windows, Safestyle needed two attempts to install them. We have since experienced damp issues and water leakage under the windows and two of them regularly don't shut properly, leaving a nasty through draft into the rooms where they're located.

Throughout the years we've had to contact Safestyle on a number of occasions to have things fixed under the 10 year guarantee. They haven't been able to legally stop us from having repairs made, but every time we've had to contact them I feel they've been difficult and awkward by not promptly returning phone calls. On repeated occasions they haven't showed up on the agreed date and then the replacement products have been ordered wrong so that they've had to come again. Considering the cost to us to have repairs made under guarantee (days off work, loss of income), it would probably have been cheaper for us to have all our Safestyle windows and door replaced by a reputable company, something that we're intending to do if we're still living in this house when the guarantee expires in 2010.

They may be cheap in the short term, but I wouldn't go with them again.
