Good Points

It is hard to think of good points about this machine. When it is working perfectly, it has very good suction. However, this doesn't last for long.


Bad Points

This machine is heavy, cumbersome (and therefore difficult to carry upstairs), its hose does not, as claimed, reach the top step of a standard flight of stairs, and its suction decreases as it is used. The filter has to be cleaned very frequently (three to six months is a complete joke), and it is difficult (and throws dust everywhere) when emptying the collector.


General Comments

When I complained about the machine to the Dyson helpline, I was told that the machine was not designed for an environment where building work was going on (which seemed to include ANY DIY!), and that, yes, I would have to clean the filter much more frequently. I am not sure how to determine whether the dust I am picking up is from building work in the neighborhood, or whether it has flown in from elsewhere; all I know is that I shall never, ever, buy a Dyson machine again.
