Good Points

Used to be acceptable, if a little slow at settling claims etc, but have become dreadful in this policy year.


Bad Points

Very slow settling claims, seem to fight to avoid paying out, failed promises re callbacks, SLAs etc. Also hugely inflated renewal price in the year following a claim - not a standard load, but doubling the premium for other pets which remained claim free.


General Comments

Having once been a little slow settling claims, Petplan have gone sharply downhill of late. Failure to action callbacks, SLAs failed for settling claims, providing data, ignoring requests for refunds etc etc etc. Worryingly, one of the vets at my local practice mentioned "on the quiet" that they had started querying very straightforward claims too.
They no longer have a unique selling point in lifetime cover for conditions, as other providers are starting to offer this on their service too.
We'd been with them for many years, and a year ago, I'd have given them a seven, as they were OK without being great, but nothing seems to work in the organisation any more. You can get the same or better cover elsewhere for less, and the service can't be worse than you'll get with Petplan.
