Good Points

Superb performance of the Barclays Torquay local branch from the efficiency and professionalism of their personal bankers to the friendliness of their cashiers. No problem is too trivial and they are the ones who solved them and not our offshore branch.


Bad Points

Uncompetitive savings rates, bad investment advice leading to client financial loss but to their gain, don't deliver in the set time frame that they promise, again resulting in financial losses.


General Comments

We have banked with Barclays for over thirty years starting in London, then in our local branch and then it was recommended that we move accounts to an offshore branch for inheritance tax and non-residency purposes. In the beginning of the move, everything went smoothly and they assigned us a superb relationship manager and then her assistant. After we were re-assigned, everything started to go downhill and the emphasis was not on "our needs" but the "bank's profit". During the last two months, things went from bad to worse and we have incurred financial losses. What has mainly kept us with Barclays is the wonderful personal and professional service we have enjoyed from their local Torquay branch. It is a small branch and they truly understand what "personal" banking is.
