Good Points

Occasionally makes a good cup of filtered coffee.

Bad Points

To sum it up: this was a 30 year employment gift, wish I had picked something else.

General Comments

Got this Krups XP2000 as a big gift, but the problems seem to be endless. The on/off switch for the filtered side now does not turn off immediately (it used to). The blue light stays on for a while, and then goes off. Sometimes it stays on for quite a while. Gets confusing, did I turn it off or not. Seems to leak water, have only used the espresso side twice in 7 months that we ' ve owned the unit because it's such a hassle and the manual is not much help. Sometimes when making filtered coffee, it's just warm. Other times it's hot. It ' s not scale because we have soft water & the unit has been descaled. I think it might have something to do with the on/off switch. One pot will be hot and the next, just warm. We only use the filtered coffee side maybe once or twice a week, usually just on weekends. The water fill for the filtered side is in the back. Due to the height of the unit, it can ' t be used under a kitchen cabinet and must be pulled to the front of the counter and it is heavy. No separate water measurer was included and if the carafe is used, it is hard to pour into the well in the back without spilling water and if you miss, it continues to leak out on the counter for quite a while. We have a measurer from an ancient Mr. Coffee that we now use to pour the water into the unit. The lid easily falls off of the carafe when you are cleaning it. Two small plastic pins hold it on and fit into two holes at the top of the handle and the pins don ' t seem to be long enough. The filter holder takes a little effort to get it locked into place each time. If we are making a second pot of coffee while the unit is hot (remember, it won ' t turn off when the button is pushed) it blows steam in your face with the lid up as you first start to pour the water in. Since the unit was an employment gift, there is no receipt. We are trying to get something from the employer but if we can ' t, then we won ' t be able to get this thing fixed under warranty and will probably just throw it out.
