General Comments

I bought a £2850 diamond ring from Chisholm Hunter Greenock store Jan 2007. After a couple of months, a stone fell out, they repaired it. It took eight weeks. Another stone fell out. They were oh so sorry again and repaired it. Each occasion I requested that the claws be strengthened which they said they would and said they had. This repair took three and a half months. The store closed down and I received no contact about this. When I contacted the Glasgow store, no-one had any idea who I was or where my ring was. I eventually got the ring back, they gave a free valuation. It valued my 2.5 carat ring at 1.6 carats. I noticed this, not any member of Chisholm Hunter management. They took it back to have it revalued. It was then valued at 2.3 carats. When I purchased it I was told it was approximately 2.5 carats. I have documentation for all of this. All the way through I had to contact them; I had to go in for meetings and when I arrived no-one knew why I was there so I'd be put on the phone to a manager elsewhere in the country. I got my ring back again, Within three weeks yet another diamond fell out. The third diamond. I told them I wanted a refund. I told them I didn't want another repair nor a replacement, that i wanted out of the situation. And this is where the real trouble started. They are now demanding I have the ring assessed to check it is a design fault! Up until now they never once queried this, but as soon as I mentioned REFUND, everything changed. They are refusing to pay for the cost of the assessment ( £170) which is the only assessment they will accept, from an association they are a platinum member of. I have to pay upfront. I have never received any contact from them and I get the impression that they hope I am going to go away. I have now been sitting with a useless ring in its box since September 2008. I feel as though they don't care. All for £2850. I really did expect better. I would never buy from this outfit again as I feel the ring is not fit for purpose.
