General Comments

I have had the Thomas Cook Credit Card for about 9 months and have earned travel points which will come useful as I ' ve planned a holiday to Florida in July 09. All of a sudden I received a letter telling me the credit limit of my card was reduced from £2000 to £1100. No explanation was given and it would take effect immediately. I was very angry as although I was running bills over £1000 each month I was clearing the full amount as I did not want to pay interest. My circumstances had not changed at all so I called them up and the person on the phone could not give me an explanation he said my account was handled fine and the decision was made by underwriters. At my request I was transferred to a manager. I asked her for an explanation she couldn't give me one. I asked her why proper notice was not given the letter could have been delayed in the Christmas post would I have been charged fees she said yes I would have I was lucky I got the letter in time. She refused to transfer me to the person who made the decision and just told me it was their policy to make reviews regularly and inform customers in normal mail and hoped that the customers would get their letters in time before they went over their new credit limits. If charges were made they would not be refunded. I could not believe them I have got credit cards from John Lewis, Bank of Scotland and Asda Credit Cards and they have never given me problems but these strange rules make it hard for me to trust this company. I will not use their card again. If anyone is thinking of applying for this credit card make sure you find out about their reviews and just how they plan to handle any fees that may occur if you go over if they plan to reduce your credit limit. They do it 20 days before Christmas too Bah Humbug to this company.
