I have just been informed that my interest rate has been increased overnight from 22.9% to 34.9% - an increase of over 50%! When I called the Customer Services department the person I spoke to said it was a 'business decision' but could tell me no more than that. I was told that a letter has been sent to me informing me about this increase but I have never received it and so have asked for a copy. I suppose this letter might tell me why my rate has been increased but I cannot believe that any reason justifies this increase. I have never missed a payment. There are plenty of other cards out there, so unless you want a similar experience avoid MBNA credit cards.
