“Contours Walking Holidays tour of Hadrian's Wall was...”

Good Points
My partner and I had a wonderful walking holiday with Contours this year (our sixth). We walked the entire length of Hadrian's Wall. The accommodations were great (they varied from homely B&Bs to really lovely inns) and were ideally located close to the trail. The luggage transfer between accommodations worked perfectly (they even went back for my wife's wash bag which she left in our room). The maps and guidebook were good too (although the guidebook is little too 'wordy' for my taste). The walk itself was very varied. Great scenery and fascinating history. It was however, quite muddy in places, so I would recommend taking gaitors.

Bad Points
The waymarking is not as good as it should be through the towns (Newcastle and Carlisle). The trail is very muddy in places - especially where cattle have been grazing.

General Comments
Contours Walking Holidays tour of Hadrian's Wall was well organised (like all of the tours we have been on (Cotswold Round, West Highland Way, Dales Way, Offa's Dyke and South Downs Way), with a well though-out itinerary, good accommodations, efficient luggage transfer and satisfactory maps and guidebook. We recommend their tours to everyone we meet.
