Michael Sadler in An Englishman in Paris doesn't leave anyone out--French or British. He simply calls it.

General Comments

I believe I learned more about living in France by reading this book than the nine visits I have made to the country. The French are maddening wonderful people, and what they could (and do say) about les americains and our idiosyncrasies in language, bizarre gestures, etc. would be volumes. Thanks, M. Sadler, for writing the perspective. This book should be required reading for anyone going to France with a discussion to follow on, "What's weird about Americans." We'd miss our flight.
