Bad Points

Far too complicated phone/internet passcode protection access system "enter third digit of your phone number" "enter the fifth digit of your account number" "enter the first digit of your date of birth" "enter the second and fourth digit of your account passcode" etc... AND RUDE OPERATORS!

General Comments

ING totally let me down - as tiring as it was finding someone to talk to once we had both gone through the extremely complicated password protection questions on the phone for both of us (don ' t get me wrong I am a great believer in security but this was tiring and we had paper with different bits all over the house that they kept sending us with different codes). I digress, after all that rigmarole our account was then accessed and we requested an on line transfer of our savings to be transferred into my Abbey current account. We submitted the online request. We were then given an online receipt of acknowledgement confirming our request. The transfer was for £140K and it was all our savings for the deposit on our new home. The day before our solicitor needed the money I went into my Abbey current account only to find to my utter horror ING had done what we asked and put the money into my Abbey account THEN IMMEDIATELY transferred it straight back to themselves! No matter how much pleading on the phone or explaining how important it was to us as the sale of our house was all on this money getting to our solicitor - ING were unhelpful and not once did they apologise for their mistake but seemed to want to blame us for requesting the transfer of the money straight out and then straight back to them. (Why would we do that?) It was not physically possible to do so within the two minutes they said they had logged on line both transfers (out and back) by the time you had entered and gone through the lengthy on line pass code system. Fortunately Abbey came to the rescue and recalled the money from ING. We nearly lost our home because of ING and all I got at the end of the phone was a girl saying loudly at me "well you did it!" appalling.
