The interlude and leaving the building.
Bad Points
The excess singing, the plot, the heat of the auditorium...
General Comments
If you want to throw away upwards of £55 per person (ticket only; stalls) for 3 hours of excessive singing drivel - then this is for you! The excess singing is ridiculous, singing absolutely every single sentence is absurd. This show is poor take on...Opera.
As for the historic French plot being dumbed down with cockney tom-foolery... do me a favour.
The actors performances were strong - but to what ends? I just don't get it! The orchestra were excellent.
How this West End show has lasted for over 20 years is completely beyond me. This show sucks.
This experience has put me right off West End musicals for probably a very long time - my next trip to the theatre will be to see a play... probably at less expense and likely to be to the Old or New Vic in Southwark leaving the West End crowds behind us.
How has this show [farce] managed to draw such adoration?
