Lovely facility (Hastings)
Bad Points
Poor training advice from instructor
General Comments
After filling out the form about all my health issues, I re-iterated to the trainer that I had bad knees. He advised that I use the X-trainer, which I tried during the induction until it became uncomfortable. He said there would be discomfort initially, but to keep trying. On my first day, I was on the X-trainer for 35 seconds before I felt an incredible pain in my right knee. I told the trainer on my way out, but there was no advice on how to handle the situation. Unfortunately, I was unable to see a doctor at that time. To cut a long story short, I am now unable to walk any real distance without pain. I have had to have an arthroscopy to that knee and will probably have to have a knee replacement in the not-so-distant future (I am only 52). Bannatynes' response to my letter of complaint was dismissive at best. They simply wrote from head office to say that training is developed using information from the member (duh! I told him I had bad knees) and that it would be passed on to the Hastings club. (Had they looked at the letter, they would have seen that I had sent a copy of the letter to the Hastings club already.) Because of Bannatynes, I am now in constant pain and unable to enjoy walking as I used to.
Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
