General Comments

I bought the Gamo PT80 for in-home self defense shooting practice when I can't get to a proper target range to shoot firearms. It does a really decent job at replicating the short range accuracy of a real pocket sized firearm such as a .38 Special Snub Nose revolver or a .380 ACP pocket pistol.

Anyone used to pulling a trigger through double action will feel right at home with the Gamo. It's not as smooth as a real gun's trigger can be, but at 13 lbs. (my measurement) it is lighter than many double action triggers on the real thing. The "single action" is useless though on the Gamo. Yes, you can cock it and pull the trigger, but the trigger breaks at the same 13 lbs. as in double action.

My Gamo can group 1.75" at 10 yards shooting free handed. That's just as good, if not better than a pocket firearm. I tend to get 60-65 pellets shot before low velocity requires a CO2 cartridge change. For cheaper shooting than a .22LR pistol, the Gamo does better than I expected. I definitely like shooting the pellets over airsoft BBs or steel BBs. Less ricochet and more accuracy with the lead 4.5mm pellets, in my opinion.

I'm not an airgun expert, but I thought my Gamo was in need of lubrication before even firing one pellet down its bore. I lubed every pivot point and spring end sparingly with light oil. I also used light grease on the magazine pinion, the magazine outer ring, and the barrel catch. I oiled the magazine seal and the CO2 cartridge seal.

I'm hoping to get a couple thousand shots out of this Gamo before something mechanical breaks. I'm sure I'll have to replace seals and magazines a few times though.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Gamo PT80 at this point!
