Good Points

Much improved battery performance over the N95.
Massive memory good for video storage and iPlayer downloads.
Better function key layout, although still not ideal.
Quality music playback.

Bad Points

Hopelessly unstable when used with blue-tooth!
OS locks out at least three times a day requiring battery removal to re-start. Very cheap backing plate looks set to wear out / break due to frequency of removal. No doubt expensive to replace as it contains an antenna.
(Why not have a forced power off, holding down the power button, like most PCs)
Suspect build quality. I've exchanged my unit FOUR times with various faults.
Ring tone too quite to hear. (Fix in firmware update, but not available to UK users!)

Degraded performance over N95. OS is unresponsive.

General Comments

Totally unacceptable stability for a high end phone. If multi tasking apps the phone WILL lock up without exception!
When used with blue tooth head set then the situation is worse.
Nokia are unhelpful in providing answers as to why their firmware update doesn't work on unbranded UK phones, despite acknowledging these faults exist.

This isn't a case of a bad handset. I've exchanged it four times due to various faults. All of them would lock when blue tooth used.

I was a big fan of the N95 and reluctant to upgrade. Now sorry I did as the N96 is not really stable enough to take seriously.

I couldn't advise anyone to buy one of these phones. The quality of them is not up to an acceptable standard and it appears they have released it with the minimum or no pre release testing.
A sorry purchase indeed.
