Whether you are a beginner or an expert you simply can't go wrong with an 870. You can easily spend more for a pump shotgun, but you will not find a better gun. This is the most rugged and reliable pump shotgun on the market, period. I have been shooting 870s since the '60s and have dragged a host of them through the most god forsaken marshes in the Pacific Northwest. I have never had one fail me under the most trying circumstances. I bought my son the "Super Magnum" version for his 14th birthday and it has become his favorite firearm. Most people find it's pointability to be a "natural" for them. Great gun!
