Good Points
Good price; easy to hack.

Bad Points
When connected through SCART cable I have to switch it off to use the television.
Can't get rid of the letterbox format when playing widescreen DVD's on a normal TV.

General Comments
The Tesco helpline info on the TV screen is a bit naff, but at less than £100 for a good and versatile player I can live with the Dansai 852.

Try to connect the player to the SCART input on your VHS. This allows copy to VHS that is as good as the rental movies. The RGB mode has bad colours compared to the video output setting.
