As an alternative to wearing golf wellies or putting up with your ordinary golf shoes getting a soaking the Stuburt Hydro Dry boots are a great choice. The high boot fitting takes a little getting familiar with but the fit is very good, a little stiffer than a golf shoe but still OK for 18 holes with no signs of fatigue, I went up one size so that I can use a full on hiking sock plus a liner sock for very cold days.
The three velcro fastening straps make for a good fit and the flexible tongue helps to keep the boot from feeling too stiff on your shinbones when walking. I have used my pair for four very wet and muddy rounds so far this year (2008) and I would not swap them. The sole is a proper golf shoe sole and is fitted with soft spikes so you should have no issues with your local greenkeeper. The boots clean very easily with some warm water and stiff brush.
Good choice if you want to be playing in the UK winter conditions.
