Good Points

Looks stylish


Bad Points

Very unreliable. Long drying cycle. Door seal folds gets covered in smelly gunk and mould on a regular basis.


General Comments

Four call outs in two years on our Hotpoint WD860. The first two were for a dryer fan failure.

One engineering cal out was confirmed but never passed to an engineer so no-one came. On the last call out, Hotpoint/Indesit sent the wrong parts and so I had to stay off work for another day.

2 weeks ago we had to have the main logic board, motor and motor controller replaced because the whole lot suffered a cascade failure and I had to dive to pull out the power as the machine popped, sparked and smoked. Now the door sensor has failed and I am waiting for yet another engineering visit.

Spoke to customer services about the string of repairs and it seems they just couldn't care less and their only suggestion was to purchase a rolling service/repair plan.

I will NEVER buy another Hotpoint or Indesit machine.

This one was total rubbish

    Another month and another dryer fan failure - error F-13 and the familiar, strong hot smell of burning motor.

    Off we got to Hotpoint to book another call. We are seriously considering sending Hotpoint a bill for our fuel and money costs of using the local launderette and the cost of one of us taking a day off work to be in when the engineer turns up.

    Here we are - 25th January 2009 - and there is water all over the floor below the unit so a seal has broken somewhere or the water pump's gone. Another month - another visit from the repair man.
