Bonaparte has an authentic french concept, its decor and atmosphere have the resemblance of traditional french life, giving it a unique and specifically cosy feeling. Pleasingly it's owned by a cultured french family, which is especially helpful to myself as I'm a student studying french, they were providing and enjoyably participating in conversation.
The service was moderately quick, and a weekly menu was provided which was idiotically cheap for the choice of food. I ate off this menu, firstly i endured a rustic 'Soupe a l'oigon' it had the resemblance of typical french flavours yet without the consistency of appearance, but it tasted sweet and flavoursome. For mains i had 'canard a l'orange'
I was rather bewildered to the portions provided with five minimal breasts of duck and with what seemed like around seven litres of orange liquer, also my duck was slightly over-cooked. Yet for how cheap this actually was
i needn't stress to any stretch of imagination. To round off a rather potentially brilliant meal i ordered 'fromages de France' Camebert et bleu. I had forty pieces of bread and crackers yet again minimal pieces of cheese. Overall i enjoyed my stay with authentic french cuisine. I will be returning.

Although the atmosphere is a traditional french feeling i feel it needs a refurbishment for modern day cuisine, I think it needs classy images and ornaments not cheap wine bottles and table cloths must be linen not some raggy looking sheet. In my opinion, food must be bigger proportions and be presented with a standard of true french cuisine renown for appearance and light hand. I feel that the waiters must try and not look as if they're in a graveyard. Also outside they could just smarten it up to try to lure and persuade people to enter not look at a tatty Stella Artois umbrella with a metal dirty table.

Overall I feel this can potentially be a renown french restaurant with adjustments, especially with the authentic help of it being french family run not like most places today. The service is brilliant and i recommend anyone learning french to make the effort to visit, to improve and have the reality of french oral. Food is flavoursome yet needs help with proportions and appearance, and the decor solemnly needs to be raised to a modern standard. This is an icon for france and i thoroughly enjoy my time here Bon appetite!
