The Park is still a nice place to visit and you will enjoy your time there if the weather is reasonable. Please see previous review.
Bad Points
We returned in July, 2008. Unfortunately the Park has not moved on positively since our first visit and has actually gone backwards in terms of visitor value. Some of this could not be helped as several animals, including both pumas, had succumbed to illness and were no longer there.
There were more empty enclosures with no exhibits than occupied ones. No signing to say why there were so many vacant exhibits and much less to see.
The previously excellent restaurant had declined into the usual 'chips are the only affordable meal' service that many zoos provide, with the excellent home cooking and service no longer there. Even the once tasty sandwiches weren't available.
General Comments
It is difficult to make adverse comments on the Park's situation as the owners have taken on a tremendously hard task in turning it around. Even so, they must provide exhibits for visitors to see, or they simply won't succeed.
The previously seen good features have declined and, given the location and limited nature of exhibits at present, it is difficult to see how Dartmoor Zoological Park can succeed unless drastic changes are made.
We certainly wouldn't say a visit is inadvisable, but would advise visitors not to expect the same range of exhibits they would find elsewhere.
