Good Points

Amazing ability to keep inclement elements away while on the move. Reliability PLUS. Excellent fuel economy. Storage (with top box) simply amazing. Glove boxes - How did I live without them?

Bad Points

No soul... Down changing into tight corners often sees you in 1st gear which highlights lack of power at the top end of the range while keeping it in 2nd exposes a weakness in engine torque down low- I find it quite disconcerting actually... The ratios just aren't right somehow there. Front forks just cave in with anything more than moderate braking (in much the same way old Land Rover Discoverys seemed to roll too much around corners!- I suppose I'll get to live with it!). Not exactly your lady friend's first bling choice is it?

General Comments

It's definitely the Toyota Camry of the motorbike world.
Huge boot space, uber reliable, genuine 350 km around town tank range, 400 km range on open road with load and some squirt factor possible (but getting close to... pain; where's the reserve tap?).
The theory was this was the logical reincarnation of a much loved CX500 Custom that gave 12 years loyal service with 140,000 kilometers and the usual consumerable expenses. Tyres, pipes, batteries, pads, oil, coolant, filter, etc.
I'm sure the NT700 will provide the same reliability but I just don't feel like the Fonz on a poor mans Harley anymore- Instead, I'm feeling more like an Australia Post postie on a flashed up Honda 90.
I'm sure my ego will get over it... one day.
I did a Brisbane to Coffs Harbour run on it (500 kilometers each way) and found the vibrations too much. Either I'm getting old or this bike is definitely buzzier. Take my advice. If you are intending to do some touring (which it proved to be very well equipped for) then get one of those plastic clip on do-dads that keep the throttle open with your palm so you can attend to the deep vein thrombosis that will start to develop in your right hand!) Like I said- It might be the rider but it's the first time I've ever encountered it.
Packing the kitchen sink was nearly a possibility... seriously; these things can load up like a Camel.
The glove boxes... Who would have thought it would simply have sooo many uses?
Almost wanted to take up cigarette smoking again just for the hell of it, don ' t tell me the Marlboro man wasn't part of the R&D team.
Bottom line?
I wish it wasn ' t QUITE so refined. It needs a bit more mongrel. Can anyone suggest some decent aftermarket pipes?
