Good Points

To own one is to love one.

Bad Points

Bloody annoying seatbelt warning alarm. OK, so the economy isn't the best - but I can live with it.

General Comments

In 23 years of driving, and over 20 cars, I can say this is one of the few motors I have kept for 2 years... the last one was a Toyota Celica VVTLI 190...
I'm actually reviewing my 2006 R-Sport Imprezza wagon with the later 160Bhp engine... This car is without doubt the most well kept secret, and subaru totally shot themselves in the foot for not launching this engine sooner, and selling the car for longer. They are now quite sought after. I haven't had to put a finger on it - never missed a beat, goes well enough to embarrass most hot hatches in a straight line, and in the wet it really isn't shy of embarrassing much, much bigger game. Truly a drivers car for every day use... takes my dogs to the local walking spot every morning without grumbling, and equally happy batting over the welsh mountains, or bombing down the M5.
And it handles great! Very predictable - good pedal positions, steering feedback, and brake servo that isn't over active. Slight understeer at lower speeds, easily corrected.
Don't drive one unless you want to buy one, because you will!
