Good Points
Plays all regions after a hack, good range of outputs
Bad Points
flimsy CD holder, and the annoying Ping
General Comments
Bought this Dansai 852 from Tesco yesterday. Tried the hack, but I don't have any region 1 DVDs to see if it works.
Picture and sound quality seems to be very good, but it's my first one so I can't compare to any other machines. Excellent price, and so far I am happy with it. However, it doesn't seem to play a video track on an audio CD we have tried this morning.

Videos on audio CDs are often Quicktime videos which require separate software on PCs (usually on the CD itself) but will not play in DVD players to my knwledge. However some DVD singles are now appearing which do play in DVD players (eg U2, REM etc.) but these do not play in HiFi CD players!!
