Good Points

It does what I bought it to do, that is record TV programmes, but it is complicated for what I had in mind.

Bad Points

I specifically bought a Samsung based on the fact that as I already have a Samsung TV - I would be able to use only ONE remote for both this and the telly. I was assured by the salesman at Comet that this would definitely be the case.

However, it is NOT true as their is a facility on this machine to edit the recorded content - for example after recording the programme you can take out the adverts.
However, the TV remote does not have the necessary buttons to do this and the remote for the DvD doesn't have all the buttons I need for full control on the TV.

So, I have to have TWO remotes!! Not what I had intended.

General Comments

After 9 hours I eventually got to grips with it and have successfully recorded a programme and edited out the adverts.
Had I known that I would need two remotes I would have maybe chosen a different make!
I suppose I shouldn't complain too much @ £69.99.
I chose this particular model as I already have FREEVIEW an I'm not bothered about HD, knowing that most of my recordings will be on long play which is low resolution but longer recording time = more content on dvd.

Since posting this review I have taken machine back for refund.

I recorded 4 dvd's NONE of which would play on my portable dvd player or my laptop or my PC or my other DVD Player!

So what use is it! When I rang Samsung and got through to the TECHNICAL dept I spoke to a lady who was about 20 and knew less than I did about the machine. She told me it was because I had not finalised the disc.

What I love about these people is they assume everyone else but them is a plank. I should have told her that in the last 5 years I have copied and burned over 1,000 DvD's (none copyrighted of course!).

So, do YOU think I hadn't finalised the DVD's?............hence I got a refund!?
