General Comments

I bought my L100 back in March, attracted by its elegant design and small size. It was a refurbished model, and just after the 6 months guarantee ran out, it started to have problems freezing up because of overheating. The fan seemed not to be working, because after the start light flashed a little, the thing would just hang. After several attempts using the recovery disk, I finally managed to get everything going again (although I lost all my data and had to re-install everything). Started having the problem again, but by pressing the "delete" button as it starts up, I got to the BIOS setup, and went to "PC health", and disabled "smart PCU fan control." This means that the fan now runs all the time, but everything runs nice and cool, but noisy. Perhaps I can keep the sound insulated in a polystyrene box from the fish market...
The annoying thing is that if I had discovered the "disable smart PCU fan control" trick a little earlier, I might still have all my data....
