“Great gun in the .30-06 caliber that will suffice to...”

Written on: 22/10/2008

Good Points
Easy operation, pump action rifle. Clip fed for quick unload before getting into vehicle. Accurate. Easily will shoot inside a 1" group at 100 yds. Not huge, long or overly heavy to carry.

Bad Points
Replacement clips for older models don't fit well.

General Comments
Great gun in the .30-06 caliber that will suffice to hunt any large game in North America. Shooting a Remington 760 is definitely manageable. The recoil is not over powering, and won't punch the shoulder hard, especially with a recoil pad. .30-06 loads can be made up light in 150 grains for varmint, 165 for deer, 180 for elk, or up to 200 for hunting bear. The 760 is a very versatile gun, and is completely capable of taking any large game within it's limits. Consult the ammo's ballistics either on the ammo box out of the store, or manually hand loaded ammo in a reloading book specifying range/drop.
