Just got back Saturday after 11 nights in the Gran Santa Ponsa apartments. Me and my partner went and thought it was great. The apartments were nice and clean with regular maid service although I don't think they cleaned the floors or changed the bed sheets while we were there but that didn't really bother us as we are not filthy people!!! There was only air con in the living room/kitchen area and I think this will be a problem for those going during the hotter summer months. The temps were roughly 70 + while we were there and although we had some drizzle it was nothing much and didn't last long. It did tend to get rather cloudy around 3 and we came off the beach then. The sea was lovely. All the staff were lovely and they found it nice although funny when I tried to speak to them in my little Spanish! The pool looked lovely although we didn't use it as we are more beach people. The location was great - out of the way but not too far, everything was within walking distance and the whole area is relatively flat. There was a small incline going up towards the Irish/Scottish area and towards the small cove/marina area but they were easy. We don't usually go back to the same place twice but I would go back if my sister was to take the kids there. We did a few excursions booked with our rep - 1. Pirates - FANTASTIC!!! 2. Caves of Drach - wouldn't go again, one of the hottest and sunniest days I felt was wasted on this trip, we were first dropped at the Majorca factory where they make pearls, not the most interesting of places mainly rows of items of jewellery made with the pearls which although I did fancy a few pieces they were too expensive, then next door to the Olive art shop, again not the most interesting it was just a shop more or less selling tat made from olive wood. Then on to the caves which were not as magnificent as expected and we weren't there long, then down to Porto Cristo for lunch which was kind of expensive and there wasn't much to do or see here. Finally we thought we were on our way back to the apartment but we had a final stop in a shop alongside the motorway where we had a taster of some liquors and could purchase more tat and leather goods. We enjoyed the scenery as we were going around the Island but I wouldn't recommend it - too long. 3. Andraix market and port. We were dropped off around 9.30 and were in the market until 12.00. We felt too long was spent here, we had been around the market by 10.30! We then went down to the port for lunch for an hour and a bit but spent most of the time trying to find somewhere with reasonable prices to eat!! The local bus service is good and reasonable (so are the taxis) and I would get around with these rather than book with your rep. All in all a great holiday and it was winding down at this time of year but I don't expect it would have been too busy during the school holidays. Prices were similar everywhere. We didn't eat at Crocodilos which had been recommended to us as it was always too busy but we had three very nice meals at the watering hole just down from Crocodilos and they have a lovely pool and area with sun loungers out the back available to use for a couple of euros. So to end, if you are thinking of going here I would say yes. Enjoy your holiday.
