Good Points

Set menu is good value, though not a large selection. Food is very well presented and prepared - good flavours without being over the top.
Lay out, lighting and furnishings combine to create a really good feel to the place.

Bad Points

A La Carte Menu is a shade on the expensive side, for four it cost almost £170 (including tip) for two courses, a £20 bottle of wine, water, 4 glasses of house wine and a G and T. This I felt was high for the overall package provided.

General Comments

Having made a fairly positive review of 272 Restaurant I personally will never set foot in the place again. The reason for this is that the glass of house Sauvignon Blanc I had before the meal was pretty dire, as agreed by all my co diners when they tasted it. The front of house also tasted the wine and said 'I agree it does not have the normal Sauvignon flavours you would expect'. In a well run place the immediate offer would be to replace the glass with another house wine or not to charge for it. Neither of these happened and there are plenty of equally good restaurants around who will look after me as a customer the way I expect them to.

Having dined at 272 yesterday evening i was very surprised to read this review. After tasting the house sauvignon blanc from chile it was how i expected a house s.b to taste. The value for money on the set menu is outstanding for £13.50 for two courses, and the A la Carte menu is no more expensive than a gastro pub. The difference is at 272 you get waiter service at your table, free bread and olive oil, and a few extras ie petit fours with coffee. I will certainly be going back. Thank you to the chef and all the staff for a lovely evening.
