Guest's Review of Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Pressure Cooker
15th Oct 2008
Overall Rating
- Value for money

I bought my 5L Kuhn Rikon 3 years ago, and up until fairly recently it worked very well and was very efficient and quiet.
Bad Points
Now, after 3 years and 1 month (Sept 2008) when it 's out of warranty it won't seal properly, steam keeps escaping from the Secondary Valve. I contacted the company and bought a new Secondary Valve which no longer leaks, but was over £9 for such a small item. Now the Main Valve leaks. I contacted them again and they suggested I buy a new part for the Main Valve. A new valve stem and spring is over £6, and I can't decide whether or not to throw good money after bad. Also, the stainless steel valve housing (to divert steam) is held on with three plastic clips, and two of these broke within a month of my having the pressure cooker. Replacement cost is over £8. Why couldn't the clips have also been steel?
General Comments
When my Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Pressure Cooker worked it was fine, but my main complaint is that I can not find any way to get this pressure cooker repaired, or to find out what's wrong with it. I would like to send them this lid to fix, but the company has not been very forthcoming about this, only suggesting that I buy lots of new parts.
If I knew what was wrong, I would buy the requisite part, but I don't know what's wrong.
