Bad Points
None from our visit but given its size and popularity it may feel a little cramped at peak times but that is just a guess.
General Comments
The Waterfront, Kessingland is a very attractive and intimate restaurant with views of the sea. The menu is varied and good value (more so for an evening meal when you can take your time to enjoy generous helpings of all the courses.) The dishes are clearly homemade and good quality ingredients are used. The fish dishes were fresh and fabulous - with my hard-to-please other half stating that it was the best meal out he had had in a very long time.
The staff were helpful - particularly when faced with a vegan to feed without prior notice. (Plenty of veggie food but cheesy and the pasta was egg pasta...) It is always the mark of a good chef if a one-off dish can be created on request and the mushroom and asparagus risotto was superb! And it was much better and more thought out that the staple stir fry usually offered at such times.
There was no sense of being rushed through the meal (though this may be different at the height of the season when booking is apparently a must) and all four of us could not speak highly enough of our meals.
Kessingland is a fairly bog standard run of the mill seaside village with a large caravan park. It would be easy to walk by the Waterfront on the way to the pub and think it was just another cafe type place at the seaside. But it is not. It is a super little restaurant worth travelling to for great food, good value and helpful staff.
