General Comments

I recently went to Florida on Holiday wth my Partner and two Children. We were staying in a Villa, which was great, however one day my Partner was coming in to the Villa from the garage, and fell over, slicing open her finger. The shock and loss off blood caused her to pass out and, not being able to rouse her, and not knowing if she had banged her head, I panicked and phoned 911. An ambulance came, and took my partner to hospital where she was treated and given stitches to her wound. I should say that I had to follow the ambulance in my hire car, with two hysterical kids as passengers. The Hospital insisted that I paid the bill (over $1600) up front, by credit card.
As soon as I got back to the Villa I dug out the insurance booklet and phoned the helpline. I was assured everything would be fine as long as I kept receipts and got a medical report from the hospital, which I did.
I filled in a claim form when I got home, and sent 26 pages of evidence (receipts etc) to support my claim.
Guess What! I AM BEING CHARGED A £500 EXCESS CHARGE, BECAUSE i NEVER PHONED THE INSURANCE BEFORE CALLING AN AMBULANCE!!!!!! They have told me that in a medical EMERGENCY, if the bill is going to be over £500.
How the hell would I know that? The staff at the Hospital were very insistent, almost aggressive when asking for the money up front...I was given no choice!
I was expecting a £75 excess charge...fair enough, it tells me that in the insurance booklet, BUT £500??????
I am currently in the process of appeal, so it's not over yet, but anyone reading this....do yourself a favour and avoid this company
