student2888's Review of Post Office Travel Money Card

Overall Rating

1.5 stars

Good Points

It did as any other money card would do, i.e., money could be withdrawn from cash machines and used to purchase items from shops.

Bad Points

Topping up takes far too long. On returning home, with for example Euros still on card redemption of this money is like trying to get your cash out of Fort Knox.

General Comments

You go into the Post Office, present your passport plus proof of your address and immediately you are given your Travel Money Card, you transfer money from your bank account on to it and that is that, so far so good, it was easy, however when you return from holiday and still have Euros on the card getting the money back is like going through a mystical maze where you always end up at a brick wall. Despite returning to the same Post Office that gave me the card I could not get my money back. Instead I had to go through an Experian check, which as a student with no monetary history proved difficult for them. I have sent various documentation to them to prove who I am but after a month I am still waiting to get my money back. Never again will I use this card and I blame money expert.com for recommending it without knowing of this failure in it's creation.
