The car didn't break down!


General Comments

1.) Massive queue to get the car at Perpignan Airport (if you are on a BMI Baby flight EVERYONE on your flight will be using Hertz as there is a link on the BMI Baby site - booking on-line in advance will not really save any time). If you fly BMI Baby just use Avis or Europcar - there will be no queue!
2.) Expensive - the extra insurance cover to make sure you pay nothing is huge (higher than my yearly car insurance at home for a year!). They were so busy that no-one would have checked the car over if I had wanted them to. The car did have plenty of scratches which I'm sure I'd've been charged for.
3.) Misleading - I apparently took out a fuel option that meant I should have returned the car empty of fuel. I filled it up and still got charged for a full tank and did not get a full reimbursement for the fuel I bought. The way it was described to me at the airport, verbally, was misleading. Apparently Hertz's customer service dept feel it was all clearly stated in the document I signed... which was in French. Personally, I would not use Hertz again - far too expensive and I'm not happy with their customer service.
Can't vouch that Avis or Europcar would be any better - but I'd try one of them next time.
