Good Points

The Office in Tenerife is brand new and sparking, they will offer to communicate in English.


Bad Points

HALIFAX BANCO HISPANIA
Beware opening an account when in Spain with this bank as the charges for transferring money are very high. We were charged 392 Euros by them to transfer 112,000 euros from France to Spain. In the small print they list the charges. We did a similar transfer with a spanish bank which cost us 27 euros. If you are opening a bank account in Spain opt for a Spanish Bank and steer clear of the Halifax Banco Hispania. You will not get the same service as you do in the UK.


General Comments

The Banco Halifax Hispania looks the same as the Halifax Building Society in the UK. However, this will lure you into thinking the service and the banking standards are the same. They are not. They are entitled to charge you basically what they like as long as it is in their booklet and you will be extremely out-of-pocket. In Spain use a Spanish Bank. They will offer to speak with you in English and their charges will be a fraction of the Halifax Banco Hispania. We now bank with Caja Canarias and the service and charges are brilliant! UK customer's beware
