Very different from the previous stuff, not too long.

Bad Points

Not enough killer tracks.

General Comments

Well the title track is probably they best track (with the exception of the scientist) that they have ever produced in my opinion. Very dark in places, light in others, slow to start, but peaks at the end with the final four tracks. The first single Violet Hill, was a little bit of a disappointment. Felt like a beatles rip-off and the video also seemed worryingly beatlesque, but the rest of the album is definitely Coldplay experimenting with their sound. I've heard or seen very little feedback from the album from both the press or the public, but after the last album there was this feeling that Coldplay had cemented itself as a consistently great band and nobody could be really bothered to contest that issue anymore. Go buy/download the album!
