I opened an account with the Midland Bank now HSBC in 1967 on return from soldiering in Aden. It was a friendly local branch and I kept in touch with the manager while travelling the world for many years. HSBC arrived, Manager and Staff changed, moved on, until I became just a number on an account. Internet banking arrived, Impersonal but I thought,left me in charge of my money, wherever I happen to be.Then recently I was locked out for using "Bookmark" option to sign on. It is the only reasonable explanation for which I thank a previous complainant.
Two days, four phone calls, answering many repeated security questions (testing me, interogating me - in case I answered wrong) many times, I am allowed back in to my account.
Four HSBC staff promising me their undivided attention to put right what went wrong, three failing and the last person I spoke to succeeding simply because he listened to me.
