Good Points

Friendly delivery staff and usually punctual.


Bad Points

I find that prices are often considerably higher than advertised. Food often delivered which I think looks fit for the clearance shelf.


General Comments

I have had orders from Tesco.com on a number of occasions. When I started receiving home deliveries of groceries, it was the only store providing this service. I now prefer to use the alternative providers.

There are two main problems I have with Tesco.com. The first is that they sometimes advertise guide prices and not actual prices. In some cases the price I am charged can be seemingly up to 50 % higher than that advertised. The only way to spot this is by examining the receipt in detail.

The second major problem is the quality of produce I've had delivered to me. Tesco.com claims that the pickers choose the products with the longest shelf life, but I feel that is anything but true in my experience. I have had rotting fruit delivered and meat that is well past its sell-by date. Perhaps more annoying though is that it is not unusual for me to find that the vast majority of items need to be consumed within 48 hours. I think this rather defeats the purpose of having a home delivery since a large amount of the stuff delivered to me ends up being thrown away.

While such problems of the freshness of produce might be a local issue (it is the Cirencester store I have used), I feel they are unacceptable as they have been persistent.
