I was unimpressed with Halford's service - they are just box shifters. My original crank and bottom bracket gave up after only 1500 miles; crank would work loose/creak - I'd re-grease, then when that didn't work I applied anti-seize on the next strip down, then PTFE till I could stand the creak no longer. I replaced the useless powerspline BB with a FSA Platinum, at the same time replacing the crank with a Truvative Holzfeller - this seemed to be fine for 3-4 months, then the dreaded creak came back (no loosening of BB this time though).

I have now dumped the Truvativ/ISIS combo and have replaced it with a Shimano Hone Hollowtech with external bearings. After 200+ miles it feels lighter and yet a definitely more rigid feel - I haven't been haunted by any more crank creak (yet?). Perhaps this bike isn't suited to the ISIS setup, as there used to be quite a lot of flex in the BB before - only time will tell I suppose. I've also replaced the chain and rear cassette. I still think this is a great bike, but I do give it a lot of abuse and I think it's the frame that is the expensive part of the purchase price, with the drive-chain taking a hit from the budget end for components.
