I have recently purchased a kitchen from Wickes. My friends had warned me that 'something always goes wrong' when installing a new kitchen but nothing prepared me for the customer service I experienced from Wickes. Firstly my kitchen delivery was aborted as they couldn't get their lorry into my street (I live in a busy built up area of Glasgow) and they refused to bring it 50 meters along a pavement to my front door. The delivery had to be rescheduled and brought in a smaller van 3 days later. I then received a damaged worktop which they did not replace for 8 days. During the installation my fitter noticed that one unit had been overlooked in the plan (planned by a wickes design consultant) and was missing. When I phoned the store, rather than apologise and rectify the situation immediately they asked me for debit card details so that a new unit could be ordered and delivered in 7-10 days! I think this recurring theme of slow delivery must be due to all their stock being held in Northampton. I feel they made no attempt to get my order to me quickly. I have written two letters to them complying about the delivery fiasco and the missing unit. I received an apology and £30 compensation for the failed delivery and £20 refund which I can only assume is for the missing unit I had to buy as no written reply accompanied that cheque.
