General Comments

I haven't really listened to much Metallica before this, but since listening to this I have listened to some of their previous albums, and with the exception of the first few albums, it feels as though Metallica have gone back to there roots a little here whilst maturing at the same time.

I really like practically every song on the album, but my favourite currently is 'All Nightmare Long'. I saw them live at the O2 Arena in London UK a few weeks ago and wow did they rock and these songs sound even better live, especially 'The Day That Never Comes'. I know it was the first single so it will be the first which people tire of but I love it all the same.

The album art is really cool, with a coffin hole that goes all the way through to the final page. And if you want to fork out £80 you can get a little coffin box set, with the album, a demo album which is as the name indicates the main album, but the tracks are all demo versions of the final product. Some Death Magnetic guitar picks, a DM T-Shirt, a DM back stage pass style thing that goes around your neck, a DM Flag which is huge and a card with an access code which will get you a free download of the entire show at the O2 Arena in mp3 format, it even gives you album art for that show so you can burn it yourself.

All in all I am happy with this performance, the box set is really overpriced but it's not a total loss considering you get 2 versions of the album out of it and a live performance.
