Summj002's Review of The Simpsons Movie

Good Points

Laugh out loud humour, just what you'd expect from Mr Groening, made on computers rather than handrawn, so far more 3D moments in it, and generally a good funny movie.

Bad Points

I feel that although The Simpsons works as a "short", transferring it into a film about an hour and a half long and hoping for it to be a massive success was a bit optimistic. Had I been commandeering this film, I would have given more parts to the cast outside of the Simpson family. As it is, the Simpsons spend little time actually IN Springfield.

General Comments

One last thing that I would like to add is that the movie was more set apart from the 20 minute versions. The shorter Simpsons episodes included slapstick, snappy quotes, and hilarious scenes that are there one minute, gone the next, and don't tie in with Springfield geographically or historically. People they meet also leave the episode, die or they never meet them again.
The film had very little of this. It was more of an actual story, and certainly not what I am used to as a viewer.
Should another film be made, I would say:

- More ingredients from the 20 minute shorts.
- More parts to outside members of the cast.
- Consider hand drawing it.
