Good Points

Owned for 12 years. Used intermittently and sometimes unused for a year at a time. Still, it is reliable as long as watch for "bad points".


Bad Points

"on" and "off" markings on switches has rubbed off, so if not used often, may forget which way to set them. Fuel tank collects condensation easily, thus get water in fuel -- best if could completely seal tank when stored and not in use.


General Comments

My Generac 4000xl has been pretty reliable machine for the size. Good economical engine and electrical parts are also good. But No fuel filter (arg!) and tank extremely difficult to clean. Air filter is marginal such that slightest restriction will run machine rich and not develop full power. Should keep spare spark plug and filter on hand, because filter is special and hard to find in stores.
