General Comments
This was the first time we have flown with VLM and as with other people, we were a little apprehensive. We had to purchase tickets at the last minute because of the fire in the Channel Tunnel and were flying from London City airport to Amsterdam for the weekend. However our apprehension unjustified because VLM was overall excellent for the reasons listed. The fares (considering we bought only a few days in advance) were excellent, £65 from London £24 return leg however the taxes at London City are phenomenal - which is no fault of the airline - taxes made up 50% of the total return ticket cost.
Our return flight was delayed by 20 minutes, this was due to some disorganisation with a disabled passenger and getting him down two flights of stairs to the aircraft waiting on the tarmac. It could have been avoided had they seated him earlier than the able bodied passengers rather than just before the flight was due to board.
The only other minor complaint was the quality of the in-flight snack. It was fine and edible, but below standards of other airlines I have flown with.
