Good Points

Very close to beach, comfortable rooms, situated in better part of town.

Bad Points

Food bland and repetitive. No chance of a poolside seat (not without cost anyway).

General Comments

The hotel itself was not too bad. However there are lots of stairs, and anyone with breathing or mobility difficulties will find it hard going. There are two pools, one for relaxing, If you don ' t mind forking out every day to get a deckchair, unless you can get there by 7 am, when the towels stretch for miles. The other pool is easier to get a seat at, as long as you don ' t mind pool games all day, and disco music blaring out. The restaurant was swarming with flies all the time. The food was repetitive and boring. The entertainment was very 'Butlins', apart from the 3 nights per week when the male staff dressed up in women ' s clothing and played silly games. Out of the hotel things were a bit more realistic. 100 yards away there was a McDonalds, with a pizza hut next door. All the local restaurants catered for the French and English, insisting on serving chips or fries with every meal. For some reason, there seemed to be a shortage of traditional meals like couscous. Where you could get them, the prices were outrageous. My wife wore a skirt which came 3 inches below the knee, and a long sleeved top, when we went out at first. She wore jeans and long sleeved shirts after that, because some locals were very upset by this. Don ' t know why, we were told to keep her shoulders and knees covered, but that did not seem good enough for some locals, who seem to rely on the tourist trade. We also had to suffer from a lack of sunshine for much of the day. It was warm, granted, but every morning there was a heavy sea mist, which cleared at about 11 am, then would come down again at about 4 pm. Overall we were very disappointed in Morocco. The people were not as friendly and accommodating as we had been led to believe. The food was shocking. The weather was not great. Don ' t think we will return in a hurry.
